Alternative Ways of Relieving Chronic Pain

Alternative practitioners such as acupuncturists and chiropractors see 38 million Americans a year. According to the Centers for Disease Control the main reason people are seeking these alternative therapies is to relieve pain.

Corri Creithton was recently diagnosed with RSD or reflex sympathy dystrophy and was unable to get relief from western medicine.

"There's really not much they can do for it other than treat the symptoms so Stacy started doing some research and found these injections and started giving them to me for the RSD," explains Creithton.

Creithton started coming to Romans Acupuncture in Morgantown about a year and a half ago to get relief from her chronic pain. Stacy Roman is the owner and started giving Creithton injections and acupuncture and says that Creithton could barely walk before the treatments.

"She had to have assistance walking in with her husband and she had to use a cane. Now she's great," says Roman.

Creithton says that after the treatments she was able to walk without a cane and is now off of all prescription medicines.

Another type of alternative therapy that has seen a rise in popularity in the last few years is yoga. Siegfried Bleher is a yoga instructor at the Inner Life Yoga Studio in Morgantown and says that yoga can be a great way to relieve pain.
